What is it
A dental implant is an artificial substitute for the root of your natural tooth. It is intended to hold a replacement crown or bridge, and can offer stabilisation of a complete denture. A standardized surgical protocol has been designed and guarantees a high success rate (more than 95%).
Your dentist will offer you a customized solution to meet your specific needs.
Benefits of Dental Implant
1. Aesthetic
Dental implant restoration is so natural-looking that you may even forget the lost tooth.
2. Recovered sensations
You will recover senses that you had almost forgotten, like taste. Furthermore, your ability to chew will be greatly improved. It will make eating a pleasure again for you!
3. Bone-preserving solution
When one or several teeth are missing, bone resorption often occurs and the adjacent teeth may begin to drift and tilt, or your denture (if any) may become loose and no longer fit. A dental implant prevents bone loss and does not rely on the neighboring teeth for support.
4. Durability
A dental implant can last a lifetime with appropriate care and good oral hygiene. Implant patients are of all ages.
Types of Dental Implant
- Single Tooth Replacement
Missing one tooth? In addition to looking and functioning like a natural tooth, the dental implant prevents bone loss and preserves healthy adjacent teeth, while allowing you to smile, eat, and speak with comfort and confidence! No one will ever know that you have a replacement tooth!
2. Several Teeth Replacement
Several options are available to replace teeth without compromising the health of adjacent teeth. One or more dental implants can be inserted to replace the missing tooth roots and support a fixed prosthesis (bridge or crown).
3. All Teeth Replacement
Is your denture uncomfortable? Do you feel embarrassed or do you have difficulty chewing? With dental implants, you will have fixed teeth and all these inconveniences will disappear.
How long does the treatment take?
Your dentist will provide you a personal treatment plan that will adapt to your needs, it can vary from one individual to another, treatment ranges generally from 3 to 6 months.
Is the treatment painful?
As you will receive appropriate premedication, and placement of the dental implant will be performed under anesthesia, the surgery will be painless.
In most cases, patients can return to work a few hours after treatment and can eat normally. Should your tooth be sensitive after the surgery, pain killers can be prescribed.
How much does the treatment cost?
Cost varies from case to case. There may be several options that meet your budget. In many cases, a dental implant is more cost effective in the long run.
